Kimberly “Kim” Christine Dwyer 52, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away suddenly on Aug. 15, 2022.

Kim was born in Iowa City, Iowa, on Feb. 11,1970, to Daryl and Kathy (Benz) Spivey. Daryl and Kathy were later divorced. Kim graduated high school in 1989 from Regis High School, Cedar Rapids. Prior to that she attended Washington High School, where she participated in Color Guard. Kim married Chuck Dwyer in May 1991 and from that marriage Damien and Tessa were born. Kim and Chuck later divorced. Kim grew her family with the additions of Tavias and Kavon. She has lived in Iowa City, Mount Pleasant, Cedar Rapids and Phoenix, Ariz. Kim most recently worked in retail sales.

Kim is survived by her father, Daryl Spivey (Susan) of Cedar Rapids; mother, Kathy Baum (Jay) of Mount Juliet, Tenn.; and her children, Damien Dwyer (Sarah) and Tessa Dwyer of Asheville, N.C., Tavias Dwyer and Kavon Dwyer of Cedar Rapids. She is also survived by siblings, Stephanie Bea, Jennifer Baum and Quinn Spivey; her uncle, Bruce Spivey; along with nieces, nephews, aunts and many cousins.

She was preceded in death by her paternal and maternal grandparents, William (Bill) and Grace Spivey and Kenneth and Jean Benz.

Kim loved her children and animals. Her children were her pride and joy. She will forever be in our hearts.

A memorial service celebrating Kim’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 26, at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, with the Rev. Jim Langley officiating. Inurnment will take place in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A memorial gathering will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
