Dr. Kent Houston DeYarman of Central Point passed away Thursday, January 11, 2024 at home.

Kent was born in Iowa City, Iowa to Dr. James Houston DeYarman and Mary Virginia Bolick DeYarman. He graduated from Washington Senior High School, Cedar Rapids, Iowa in 1966 and the University of Iowa College of Medicine, Iowa City in 1974.

He married Laura Lee Brummall on April 13, 1974 in Jefferson City, Missouri. Kent served his medical internship at KU Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas followed by a fellowship in Allergy, Asthma and Immunology at Children’s Mercy Hospital, Kansas City, Missouri.

Kent and Laura moved to Medford, Oregon in 1979 where he established his medical practice, DeYarman Allergy and Asthma clinic. He remained in practice until retirement December 2017. He was an excellent physician, well-respected by his patients and colleagues.

Kent was a member of Oregon Society of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology, Jackson County Medical Society, Fellow of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, Fellow of American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology in addition to the Consulting Staff at Asante Rogue Regional and Providence Hospital, Medford.

Kent enjoyed hiking, cross country skiing, and traveling, particularly to India. Many days were also spent rowing the Wild and Scenic Rogue River and three trips rowing the Grand Canyon.

Survivors include his wife, Laura and son Nicholas, both of Central Point; his brother Kerry and wife Cindy of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; sister-in-law Harriet and her husband David Minnick of Richmond, Missouri, plus nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Dr. James DeYarman and mother Mary DeYarman Schrader.

A celebration of life will be held in April honoring their 50th anniversary.
