Kenneth Glenwood Jennings, 96 of formerly of West Union, Iowa passed away Friday, February 9, 2024 at Hallmark Care Center in Mt. Vernon, Iowa. Kenneth was born January 24, 1928 in Wadena, Iowa, the son of Lyle and Blanche (Goranson Whittenbaugh) Jennings. He grew up on a farm in Volga and graduated Valedictorian in the Class of 1946. He married Kathryn Light on August 6, 1950 at the United Methodist Church in West Union, Iowa. Two children were born to this union, David and Christine.

Kenneth and Kathryn made their home and farmed in Volga, later moving to a farm in Randalia. They also lived in Maynard and McGregor, where Kenneth worked as a carpenter for Great Plains Supply and as a private contractor. In retirement, they moved to West Union. Kenneth was a life-long learner and reader of non-fiction. His greatest joy was watching and hearing about his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and their many interests.

Kenneth moved to Hallmark Care Center in Mount Vernon to be closer to family after a stroke. He enjoyed reading, researching on his computer and watching television. He always kept busy.

Survivors include a son, David Jennings (Krystyna) of Tarzana, California; daughter, Chris Clark (Bob) of Lisbon, Iowa; grandchildren, Dominika Jennings of California, Angie Rosenboom (Kent) of Grimes, Iowa, Kelly Baxa (Scott) of Solon, Iowa and Jessica Clark (Isaac Harper) of San Jose, California; great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Olivia and Jillian Rosenboom; niece, Jill Jennings of New Orleans and brother-in-law, Harlan Light of Canada.

Preceding Kenneth in death were his parents; his wife, Kathryn (Light) Jennings in 2007; niece, Julie Jennings; and brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Dorothy Jennings of Farmersburg, Iowa.

The family would like to thank the staff at Hallmark Care Center for their compassionate care and making Hallmark his home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the West Union Library or a community service of your choice.

A private family service will be held.
