Kathy Ann Lorenz

Kathy Ann Lorenz

Kathy Ann Lorenz, age 68, of Strasburg, died in her residence on Saturday, January 23, 2021, following a courageous five-year battle with cancer.

Born in Dover, Ohio on January 20, 1953, Kathy was a daughter of the late James and Ethel Horvath Tantrum. She was a graduate of New Philadelphia High School and briefly attended Kent State University at Tuscarawas.

Professionally, Kathy worked for the former U.S. Ceramic Tile where she worked in not only Human Resources but also in Environmental Health and Safety. She worked closely for many years with the EPA to remediate the land surrounding the plant. She loved the Environmental Health and Safety field and later served as a consultant for OSHA and the State of Ohio.

In her free time, Kathy enjoyed walking her dog, Lilly, working tirelessly in her yard and flower gardens, hiking, being on the water, and in her younger years enjoyed water skiing. She also found great joy in cooking for her family and being an avid animal lover. She will long be remembered for her unmatchable work ethic and her passion for helping anyone in need, even if it was a complete stranger.

She will be missed by her children, Adam (Amy) Gray of Cleveland and Lindsay (Justin) Kinsey of Bolivar as well as numerous friends whom she considered to be like family.

In the interest of everyone’s safety and knowing Kathy’s love for the summer months, the family has decided to plan a celebration of her life for a later date when the weather will permit outdoor gatherings. Cremation care has been conducted through the care of the Geib Funeral Center at Dover.

To help keep Kathy’s legacy intact, the family encourages ALL to perform a random act of kindness for anyone in need. Those wishing to make financial gifts in Kathy’s memory may do so by directing donations to the Tuscarawas County Humane Society, 1432 Tall Timber Road NE, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663 or to Community Hospice, 716 Commercial Avenue SW, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.
