Karen Kapes

Karen Kapes, 77, passed away Monday, February 20, 2023. Karen was born in Akron to the late Peter and Margaret Kapes, and lived in the Akron area most of her life.

Karen lived her life in service to others. She taught in the Akron and Cuyahoga Falls School systems, served as chaplain at Cleveland Clinic/ Akron General Hospital, and most recently worked at the Summa Health Stow-Kent Medical Center. Karen was an active parishioner at St. Bernard Church, where she served as lector, lay minister and outreach minister. She also volunteered at the Catholic Worker of Akron, and at the Peter Maurin Center of Akron since its founding in 2006.

She was preceded in death by family members: Norman and Mary Snyder, and James, Paula, Brandon and Peter Kapes.

Karen is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Dave and Sheri Kapes, and nephew, Jamie Kapes and his many loving aunts and uncles.
