Julie Ann Barger, 64, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Monday, April 10, 2023, at St. Luke’s Hospital. A visitation will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 16, at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 17, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, with burial following the service.
Julie was born Nov. 21, 1958, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Elmer and Margaret (Kubasa) Klein. She married Rick Barger on Sept. 6, 1980, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and together they had two children, Matt and Brittany. She worked as a kindergarten associate at Truman Elementary for many years and worked for Ace Refrigeration. Julie was also on the chair for the Cedar Hills Booster Club.
Julie loved her family more than anything and cherished them very much. She also enjoyed sewing, watching NASCAR and putting together the Local 125 Children’s Christmas Party. She also loved dogs, especially her two dogs Sheena and Lilly.
Julie is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Rick Barger; children, Matt (Tonya) Barger and Brittany (Micah) Myers; grandchildren, Kathrina, Drake, Arianna, Mathias and Mila. She is also survived by her parents, Margaret Klein, and Elmer (Kathy) Klein; siblings, Jon Klein and Lynn Schroth; brother-in-law, Den Barger; sisters-in-law, Martie Barger and Kim Barger; along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Doris Kubasa; father-in-law, Deac Barger; mother-in-law, Betty Barger; brother-in-law, Mark Barger; brother-in-law, Dale Schroth; and her beloved dogs, Sheena and Lilly.
