Judy Bahnsen, 79, died Tuesday morning, January 23, 2024, at her home following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 Friday, January 26, 2024, at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa, with interment in the Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call after 12 Noon until 1:45 at the funeral home. Thoughts, memories, and condolences may be left at www.goettschonline.com.

Surviving is her husband John, 3 daughters, Jill Dochterman, Jerri Trentz, Julie Northen, 7 grandchildren, Kyle (Nikki), Brynne, Colton, Devon, Frank, Robert (Kelly), Derek (Kylie), 7 great-grandchildren, Camden, Sam, Aiden and Jules, Oliver, Renley and Maeve. 2 siblings, Robert (Shelly) Rohwedder Scott (Valarie) Rohwedder. She was preceded by a granddaughter Jennifer, a great-grandson Braxton, her parents, her stepfather, and 2 siblings, Jerry and Diane.

Judith Ann Ortgies was born November 3, 1944, at John McDonald Hospital, Monticello, Iowa. She was the daughter of Rudolph and Elna Duncan, Ortgies. Her birth father died from Polio when Judy was 3. She was raised by her mom and stepfather Robert G. Rohwedder. Judy graduated from the Wyoming High School. She married John Bahnsen on November 11, 1961, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. The couple made their home in Anamosa. After her children were older she was a cook for the hot lunch program in the Anamosa schools. She also ran an upholstery business for many years and taught upholstery classes for Kirkwood. She also cooked at Wapsi Country Club and the Rainbow.

Judy belonged to bridge clubs, bowling leagues, and Wapsi Country Club. Her greatest passion after her family was horseback riding. Her greatest vacation was a week spent in Montana going on trail rides.
