Judith K. Leidigh
Avondale, Ariz.
Judith K. Leidigh, 80, of Avondale, Ariz., passed away Aug. 6, 2022, due to natural causes. Judy also was in the late stages of Alzheimer’s. A small private family/close friends service will be held Friday, Aug. 26 at 2 p.m. at the Cedar Memorial gravesite.
This will be followed by a celebration of life from 3 to 5 p.m. for all family and friends to attend at Kingston’s Steakhouse and Event Venue located at 568 Boyson Rd. NE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52402.
Judy was born April 8, 1942, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was the third child of Raymond and Naomi Happel. Judy will be laid to rest next to her mom and dad, plus her brother Bill and sister Nancy (and spouse Jack Kaufman).
Judy was a loving mother and wife who was highly active with her family and friends. Judy enjoyed spending time watching Iowa and Green Bay games, plus gathering to enjoy a few beverages. She was known for her big hugs which she gave out daily to those she loved. She was meticulous about her outfits matching head to toe and her makeup was always perfectly applied…always looking beautiful and happy.
While bringing up her family, Judy prepared meals right at 5:30 p.m. and was a great cook. Some of her specialties included French toast, tenderloins, pot roast and green beans with bacon and onion.
Judy also attended all her kids’ activities, never missing a game or school event. She was a wonderful mother and wife always giving without any expectation of receiving.
Judy and Russ were married at Little Brown Church on Feb. 22, 1960. They were married for 62 years. Judy will be missed by Russ as they spent almost every hour of the day together.
Judy and Russ received a special surprise when their great grandson Luke was born on their anniversary earlier this year (2-22-22).
Survivors include her husband, Russ; children Tim, Tom and deceased children Laurie and John. Judy has had 10 grandchildren, Ashley, Nathan, Morgann, Zachary, Nicholas, Alissa, Janessa, Jake, John John and Anthony. She also had many great-grandchildren and loving friends.
