Joyce Ann Nash

Joyce Ann Nash, age 89, of Hinckley, IL passed away on Sunday, April 11, 2021 in Batavia, IL. She was born on March 22, 1932 in Aurora, IL the daughter of Edwin D. and Florence Redmond (Caulk) Hill.

Joyce Ann was united in marriage on June 19, 1954 to John A. Nash and they spent the next 43 years happily together until his passing on December 20, 1997. Mrs. Nash was a lifetime and active member of Hinckley First United Methodist Church in Hinckley, IL.  Joyce Ann attended Hinckley Schools and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, IL. She taught in the Hinckley-Big Rock school district and tutored many students over the years. Joyce Ann and her husband John owned and operated the J. A. Nash Company, Furniture Stores and Funeral Homes in Hinckley and Waterman, IL. She was a member of the Hinckley-Big Rock Woman’s Club, the Hinckley Bridge Club, and was currently a member of Morama’s Writing Club. Joyce Ann will be remembered for her quick wit, Joyce-ism’s, love of a good book, and as an avid shopper. She loved the beach, shoes, dinner parties, dessert, good grammar, dining out, and spending time with her family and friends.  She was also a big fan of the British Royal Family.

She is survived by her daughters, Ardith (Mark) Trumpy of Hinckley, IL and Melissa (David) Oeters of Big Rock, IL; her grandchildren, Jessica (Tim Dickerson) Swift of Hinckley, IL, Scarlett (Daniel) Tallian of Chicago, IL, Corbin Nash (Alexandrea) Trumpy of Sheridan, IL, John David (Suzy Armstrong) Oeters of Wheaton, IL, and Chloe, Gabriel, and William Oeters of Big Rock, IL; her great grandchildren, Savannah and Easton Trumpy, Mark John Swift, and Genevieve Tallian; her dear dinner partner and friend since 4th grade, Jerry Bahl; and so many other friends spanning the ages.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Redmond Hill; her husband, John A. Nash; and her grandson, Parker James Oeters.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at the Nash-Nelson Memorial Chapel, 141 Maple St. Hinckley, IL with Pastor Sejoon Jang officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery in Hinckley, IL.

Friends may visit from 3:30 until 7:00 PM on Friday, April 16, 2021 at the Nash-Nelson Memorial Chapel in Hinckley, IL.
