Joy McKee

Joy McKee, 90, passed away on Monday, February 13, 2023.

Joy was born on January 9, 1933 in Rule, Texas to Thomas Jackson (Jack) and Effie Scott.

Joy worked in the bookkeeping department at Citizens National Bank in Abilene Texas for several years. This is where she met her future husband, Willie McKee. They married in September of 1973. They welcomed Joy’s only child, Kelli D McKee in July of 1974. In 1978 they moved to Granbury TX.

She and Willie enjoyed the outdoors; gardening, fishing, camping and traveling. She loved to draw and paint. She was an amazing cook and baked often. She was a huge animal lover and donated regularly to several causes. Joy was a huge Dallas Mavericks fan and rarely missed a game. She absolutely loved Dirk Nowitzki and it showed by the numerous photos she had of him on display in her home.

Joy is survived by her only daughter Kelli Holmes and future husband, Todd Shepherd.

She was dearly loved by many and will be greatly missed by so many. Now she can be at peace with Willie D in Heaven.
