Josephine F. Sheppard

Josephine F. Sheppard, 93, of Springfield, passed away on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at St. John’s Hospital. She was born March 15, 1928, in Nilwood, IL, the daughter of James E. and Flossie M. (Hatch) Little. She married Howard Dalton Smith August 31, 1951 and he preceded her in death in August 1966.

She is also preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Dale Little.

Survivors include two daughters, Michelle (Dan) Hall and Kim (Bill) Gansbauer, both of Springfield; four grandchildren, Natalie (Rich) Tom, Corey Gansbauer, Jared Hall, and Tyler Hall; and two great-grandchildren, Aubrey Tom and Corey Gansbauer, Jr.

Josephine was a resident of Springfield for most of her life. She worked for Fiat Allis, retiring after 30 years. After retirement, she worked at Shop ‘n Save as a greeter for 20 years. Josephine loved and enjoyed watching her birds and squirrels.

Burial will take place at Girard Cemetery at a later date.
