Johnny Ralph Gore, passed away on Sunday, February 21, 2021.  Service: 2:00 PM, Friday, February 26, 2021, Grace Community Church, Interment: Squaw Creek Cemetery, Lie in State: 1:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Thursday, February 25, 2021, Wiley Funeral Home, Glen Rose, with family receiving friends from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.  It was near and dear to his heart; as he loved his country and had much respect for all Veterans.

 

Johnny was born in Shallotte, NC on December 27, 1949 to Martin and Madeline (Simmons) Gore.  He graduated from Shallotte, NC in 1967.
Johnny was a Sgt in the United States Army and he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Bronze Star Medal.

 

Johnny married Gloria Bass on August 26, 1973 in Fairmont, NC.  He moved to Glen Rose, TX in January 1978 to work for Brown and Root at Comanche Peak, as a Sub Contract Manager and continued to do so for other construction companies until his retirement in 2015.

 

Johnny enjoyed coaching little league baseball and basketball, serving on the Glen Rose City Council, attending his children’s and grandchildren’s activities, and vacationing at the beaches in North Carolina. He was a Member of Grace Community Church in Glen Rose, TX.

 

Johnny loved his family and shared many vacations with them.  He enjoyed grilling around the swimming pool and the many special holidays that they all celebrated together.

 

Johnny is survived by his wife: Gloria Gore, children: April Gore Campos, Amy Suzanne Gore, and Johnny Ralph Gore II, grandchildren, Madeline Spenrath, and husband Reece, Mackenzie Campos, Johnny Ralph Gore III, and Mia Campos, sister Lamar Gore King and husband Jerry, brother Sam Gore and wife Rhonda, and many nieces and nephews.
