John T. Clifton

John T. Clifton 53, of Peoria Heights, formerly of Edinburg, passed away Thursday, January 14, 2021 at his home. He was born June 25, 1967 in Springfield to John R. and Norma R. Fitzgerald Clifton.

Survivors include one son, John B. “JB” Clifton of St. Louis, MO; one daughter, Samantha Clifton of Springfield; mother, Norma Clifton; one brother, James W. Clifton of Poplar Bluff, MO; one sister, Rhonda Kennedy of Edinburg; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father.

John worked for American Commercial Barge Line, Archer Daniels Midland, and American River Transportation Company as a deckhand.

John honorably served in the United States Navy as a damage controlman for seven years.

He enjoyed fishing and especially hunting pheasants.

Graveside Service: 1pm, Thursday January 21, 2021 at Edinburg Cemetery with Pastor Darrin Thurman officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the United States Navy.
