John Richard Zajack Jr.

John Richard Zajack Jr., age 85, of Mansfield, passed away on Friday, February 11, 2022.

 

He was born on July 9, 1936, in Ashland, Kentucky to the late John R. Zajack and Mary (Kopcial) Zajack. John returned to Mansfield, with his family in 1942, and lived here throughout the rest of his life. He served in the Army, stationed in Germany, he returned stateside with his wife and daughter, Loraine, to Fort Knox, Kentucky and his son, John Richard Zajack III was born in 1960 at Fort Knox. He learned the Paint Contracting Business working with his father and his brother, Jerry, and then went into business for himself. J & M Painting, in Mansfield successfully took care of his family until his retirement.

 

John enjoyed life and you never knew what he was going to do next. He was a lifetime member of the Liederkranz and served as a Trustee and the Manager of the Club Room. He was also a member of the Sons of Herman.

 

He is survived by his wife, Marianne (Kain) Zajack; his daughter, Loraine (Bob) Parker; his son, John R. Zajack III; his grandchildren, Jason Keen, Amber Hoover, Derek (Summer) Smith, Keesha Mosley, and Shane Lively; his great-grandchildren, Alec, Luke, Lexi, Logan, Jayse, Pyper, Aliah, Shane Jr., Ariel, Arian, Case, Jordan, Harley, Zacory, Kianna, and Michael; his sisters, Betty (Robert) Lipps, Janet Miller, Judy Weaver, and Jane Baker; sisters-in-law, Joan Zajack, Betty Moxrieter, and Inga Kain; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step father, Earl Weaver; a step mother, Lucille Zajack Hunter; his brother, Jerry Zajack; brothers-in-law, Bob Pryor, Dick Miller, Harry Baker, Alex Moxrietter, and Zeb Kain.

 

Family and friends may visit from 11:00 am -1:00 pm on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 pm. Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Squad will perform full military honors at the funeral home following the service. Burial will be in Mansfield Cemetery.
