John Baldwin

John Baldwin, 60, passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2023.

Johnny Grant Baldwin was born June 22, 1962 in Morocco, Africa to his parents, Jerry Dale and Imogene Cross Baldwin.  As a young child, John’s father was in the Air Force, so they travelled frequently during his younger years.  As a child, he was a “Mama’s Boy”, and he frequently reminisced the story of his mother taking a bite of food off everyone’s plate during dinner time.

John loved hunting and fishing with his dad, jumping off roof tops in the snow, playing baseball, and even winning a State Championship in football.

He graduated from Highland High School in Highland, Illinois where he played baseball, football, and track.  He graduated High School in 1980 and entered the army on September 9, 1980 where he faithfully served until 1983, spending time in Germany and other areas of the world.

John and Penny Nash married on September 15, 1980, and had numerous years of happiness together.

John’s family was his pride and joy.  From when his daughter, Samantha was three years old, he began his coaching career and still to this day, he coached his grandson, Camden’s football team in Argyle.  He always looked forward to going to practice and games every weekend.  He also enjoyed hunting and fishing with his children and grandkids.  John was always very active and always on the go.  He loved cooking, barbecuing, crawfish boils, and going out to enjoy dinner.  He would always call his family and ask where they were going to eat tonight?

John was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Jerry Dale Baldwin Jr. and Gary Baldwin, and by a sister, Sherry Banfield; by a nephew, Jeremy Baldwin, and a niece, Shelly Burke.

Survivors:  John is survived by his wife, Penny Baldwin; children, Samantha Baldwin, Grant Baldwin, Dzemil “Hoz” Hozbo, Caren Beauchamp and Constance Beauchamp; grandchildren, Brooklin Hozbo, Camden Hozbo, Serenity Bush, Laila Bush, Milo Beauchamp, Raider Williams and Nash Richardson; and by his siblings, Jerry, Terry, Larry and Flucy.
