Joe Wesley Igo

Joe Wesley Igo, age 90, of Granbury, Texas, went to his heavenly home on January 25, 2022. He was born in Fletcher, Oklahoma on May 11, 1931, to George Washington Igo and Winnie O’Neal Igo. He grew up in Morton, Texas, and after high school his first job was training horses at Texas Tech University. He then went to work for the Santa Fe Railroad as a telegrapher. In 1954 he went to work in the oilfield as a clerk for Dowell Oilfield Services in Colorado City, Texas. Joe worked for Dowell, which later became Dowell-Schlumberger, for 32 years. During those years he worked in both management and sales in Colorado City, Snyder, Abilene, Hobbs, NM, Odessa, Texas and Midland, Texas. He retired from OS in 1986 but continued working in the oilfield. Joe worked as a Superintendent for Fortson Oil Company of Fort Worth, and his last position was in sales for Big D Equipment in Midland, Texas. At 80 years of age, he decided to retire and he and his wife LaLee, moved to Granbury, Texas. Joe was a resident of Granbury for 1 O years and a member of Acton Baptist Church. Joe, who was a humorous man, loved people and never met a stranger. His greatest joy was being with his family and visiting the neighbors, swapping stories, and gardening. Joe loved God and adored his wife, LaLee.

 

Joe was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Fred Igo and Louis Igo; his sisters, Wanda Igo Gunnels, Glenna Igo Jones, and Martha Igo; his infant son, Kenny Igo.

 

Joe is survived by his beloved wife, LaLee Teaff Igo of Granbury; daughter, Deanna Igo of Artesia, NM, her 2 daughters, 5 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren. Son, John Igo and wife, Satoko, their 3 sons of Okinawa, Japan. Son, Dave Smith and wife, Toni, of Huntsville, TX; daughter Cindy Measles and husband, Bryan, of Lake Kiowa, TX. Grandchildren, Nicki Smith Aniol, husband Chris, their children, Everett & Kaylyn. Granddaughter Lisa A Smith. Grandson, Josh Measles and wife, Ashley, their daughter, Elliana. Granddaughter Kalee Measles. In addition, Joe is survived by his siblings, Ida Igo Jones and husband, Jesse, of Lubbock, TX; Bill Igo and wife, Betty, of Gold Canyon, AZ; Betty Igo Cooper and husband, George, of San Angelo, TX; as well as many nieces and nephews.

 

A celebration of life for Joe is scheduled for 2:00 pm on February 12, 2022, at Wiley Funeral Chapel, 400 Hwy 377 East, Granbury, Texas 76048.
