Joanne Schenck, 80, died Sunday, Nov. 20, 2022, at her home, surrounded by her family following a brief illness.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, 2022, at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, with interment in the Oakwood Cemetery. Pastor Holly Knouse will officiate at the services. Surviving are her son, David (Kim) Schenck Jr.; four grandchildren, Lindsay Ehlers, Shelby Cavanaugh, D.J. Schenck and Mitchel (Jillian) Schenck. eight great-grandchildren, Keegan, Brody, Chase, Dylan, Channing, Korbin, Charlotte, and Kellen; a stepgreat-grandson, Jackson; and two sisters-in-law, Judy (Don) Pierce and Sharon Solberg. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, David; an infant son, Arnold; her daughter, Michelle Ehlers; and a great-granddaughter, Kenna.

Joanne Ambuehl was born June 8, 1942, in Monticello, Iowa. She was the daughter of Leo and Laura (Harms) Ambuehl. Joanne received her education in the Monticello Community Schools. Joanne Ambuehl married David Schenck on Sept. 19, 1959, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. Joanne worked at Collins Radio for five years and then in the office at Energy Manufacturing for six years. After raising her family, she was the owner of the Penny Pincher for 15 years before retiring.

Joanne had been a member of the First Presbyterian Church where she had served as an elder. She was an active bowler and served on the Women’s Bowling Association as the secretary for 10 years.
