JoAnne Maurer

JoAnne (Stroub) Maurer, 91, formerly of Riverton, died on Sunday, December 27, 2020 at The Villas Senior Care Community in Sherman. She was born on July 28, 1929 in Loami, IL to Edward and Helen (Hamilton) Stroub. She was raised by her mother, Helen and her grandparents, Charles and Iva Hamilton.

JoAnne graduated from New Berlin High School and continued her education as a court stenographer. She worked at Sangamo Electric, the Horsley Law Offices and as an Executive Secretary for Senator Harlan Rigney until her retirement.

She was a talented quilter and loved making quilts for family, dear friends, and the SHG Music Department.

She married Ellis Pescitelli and he preceded her in death in 1977. In 1980, she married Robert L. Maurer and he survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Karen (Larry) Pescitelli-Danner; one step-son, Michael (Carmen) Maurer, Sr; two grandchildren, Heidi (John) Danner-Paruch and Eric (Sarah) Danner; two step-grandchildren, Michael Maurer Jr. and Jessica Maurer; and five great-grandchildren, Gavin, Piper, and Peyton Paruch and Jacob and Evan Danner.

Visitation: 10:00-11:00 am, Monday, January 4, 2021 at St. James Church in Riverton.

Funeral Mass: 11:00 am, Monday, January 4, 2021 at St. James Church in Riverton with Father John Nolan officiating.

CDC Protocol shall be followed. Face coverings are required and capacity will be limited.

Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Sacred Heart-Griffin High School Music Department.
