JoAnn Russell

JoAnn Russell, 85, of Springfield died at 8:20 pm, Sunday, June 13, 2021 at Lincoln Christian Village. She was born August 16, 1935 in Springfield to Abner and Grace (Schmehl) Weyant and they preceded her in death. She married Oscar F. Russell, Jr. January 22, 1954 and he preceded her in death on July 26, 2002.

She is survived by a son, Jerry (Sheri) Russell of Springfield; one grandson, Steven Russell; one sister, Vernople “Nopie” Castelman of Springfield and one brother, Gene Weyant of Springfield.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Virginia Weyant and Lillian Kunz and one brother, Charles Weyant.

She was a member of Third Presbyterian Church and was a homemaker and caretaker most of her life, but also worked as a hairdressing assistant for many years.

Visitation: 10 – 11 am, Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.

Funeral Service: 11:00 am, Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at Staab Funeral Home with Reverend Dr. John R. Shear officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Lincoln Christian Village or the Alzheimer’s Association, 2309 W. White Oak Drive #E, Springfield, IL 62704.
