Joan Faye Kaplan

Joan Faye Kaplan, 93, of Springfield, formerly of Pleasant Plains, passed away on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at The Arbors at Centennial Pointe. She was born December 11, 1928, in Pleasant Plains, the daughter of John and Sarah (Conner) Reside. She married Norman Kaplan on December 11, 1949 and he preceded her in death on May 26, 1999.
She is also preceded in death by her parents; six brothers: Willard, John, Kermit, Donald, Kenneth, and Thomas Reside; and sister, Peggy Dodd.
Survivors include her daughter, Nancy Jo (Phillip) Wagner of Naperville; three sons: Dr. Stephen A. (Paula) Kaplan of Springfield, David (Elizabeth) L. Kaplan of Dardenne Prairie, MO and Joseph M. (Tracy) Kaplan of Pasadena, CA; 13 grandchildren: Genevieve Kaplan, Emily Downs, Angela Ardoin, Damien Kaplan, Christopher Kaplan, Mariah Kaplan, Jill Uswajesdakul, Matthew Wagner, Sarah Eiduke, Abigail Kaplan, Samuel Kaplan, Zoe Kaplan, and Lily Kaplan; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Joan was a resident of Springfield since 1948. She graduated from Pleasant Plains High School. She belonged to West Side Christian Church and was a member of Home Extension. She enjoyed the occasional round of golf.
Joan worked as a realtor for Julie Davis, retiring after 21 years of service.
Visitation: 10 am – 12 pm, Saturday, August 6, 2022 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.
Funeral Service: 12 pm, Saturday, August 6, 2022 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield with Jim Poll officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Plains Cemetery.
