Jerry L. Horn, Sr.

Jerry L. Horn, Sr. 76, of Oldtown Valley, passed away Monday, June 14, 2021 at his home following an extended illness.

Born in Dover, he was the son of the late Dale and Evelyn (Hawk) Horn. Jerry was a graduate of New Philadelphia High School and a veteran having served with the United States Army. He was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church at New Philadelphia where he had formerly served on the church council. A longtime dairy farmer, Jerry was a former member and past president of the Goshen Dairy Milk Producers and a former member and past president of the Tuscarawas County Dairy Committee. One of the things that Jerry loved to do was travel with his wife; especially going to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee in the fall of the year.

Jerry is survived by his wife of nearly 56 years, Janet A. (Mutti) Horn of the residence; two sons, Jerry L. (Melissa) Horn, Jr. and Jeff (Deanna) Horn all of New Philadelphia; two granddaughters, Mikayla and Jenna Horn; three grandsons, Brock, Brant and Brody Horn; a brother, Robert (Judy) Horn of New Philadelphia; a step sister, Carole Henderson of Dover and a step-brother, Roger Smith of Connecticut. Jerry was also looking forward to the birth of his first great-grandchild.

In addition to his parents, a grandson, Bryce Horn and his step father, Gilbert Smith also precede him in death.

In keeping with his wishes, Jerry is to be cremated through the care of the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A memorial service celebrating Jerry’s life will be conducted in the near future.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to either St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 3640 Oldtown Valley Road SW, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663 or, Mercy Hospice, 4369 Whipple Avenue NW, Canton, Ohio 44718.
