Jeanette McClintock

Waverly

Jeanette McClintock, 85, of Waverly, Iowa, was called home by her Lord and Savior on Monday, December 9, 2024, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo, Iowa. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, assisted the family.

She was born in the country home of her parents, Hans and Erna Clausen, near Palo, Iowa, on January 31, 1939. She began her education in country school and eventually attended Shellsburg School where she played forward on the girls six-on-six basketball team, was a gifted clarinetist, and sang in the girls choir. She graduated in 1956. Her love of music continued after high school, and she shared fond memories of singing baritone with the Sweet Adelines.

On February 14,1959, she married Norman McClintock and raised their family of three children primarily on the farm west of Shellsburg. Jeanette’s gardens were plentiful and the lush flowerbeds she tended were a colorful display of her gifted green thumb and caring spirit. In 1974 Jeannette completed training to work as a licensed practical nurse where she cared for the needs of others at senior care facilities and Iowa Braille & Sight Saving School. Later she retired from Nordstrom Warehouse in Cedar Rapids.

She lived in Waverly for 13 years and enjoyed the beauty of Bremer County. Throughout her life, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends, growing flowers, gardening, antiques, reading and puzzles. During baseball season, she readily flew the “W” supporting Chicago Cubs victories. Jeanette freely offered friendly smiles to many and had a flair for bargain shopping, home decorating and a generous spirit. It was impossible for family members to leave her home empty handed as she loved sharing treasures.

Jeannette was preceded in death by her father, mother and sister-in-law, Donnah Clausen.

She is survived by her children: Jo (Tony) Satariano, Wayne (Gina) McClintock, and Misti (Phil) Huedepohl; grandchildren: Janna (Nate) Behrendsen, Emilee McClintock, Audrey (Mac) Gillis, Michael Boots (Alicia), Luke (Andrea) Huedepohl, Cole Huedepohl, 10 great grandchildren, brother, George Clausen and nephew Larry Clausen.

At Jeanette’s request, there will be no funeral services held.
