Janet K. Phelps, 83, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Thursday, January 25, 2024,

with her loving husband and children at her side.

Janet Kaye Hargens was born September 7, 1940, in Cedar Rapids, IA, the daughter of Harry and Eva (Glass) Hargens. On June 17, 1967, she married Garry M. Phelps in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Janet worked at Rockwell Collins for many years, retiring in 2005. She enjoyed reading, flowers, her pets, water fights with her family and shopping with

her twin sister, Janice. Janet loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.

Survivors include her husband, Garry; children, Brad Phelps, Jeff (Betsy) Phelps, and Michelle (Jamie) Hewitt, all of Cedar Rapids; 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; siblings, twin sister, Janice Teberg of Marion and a brother, Richard Hargens of Cedar Rapids; also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and sister-in-law, Anita Hargens.

A funeral service celebrating Janet’s life will be held at 11:00 Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Entombment will be in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 pm Monday, at the Cedar Memorial Chapel Stateroom.
