James “Jim”Hoffman

James “Jim” Hoffman, age 88, of Palatine, passed away January 13, 2022. Beloved husband to Marilyn, nee Zink, for 66 wonderful years. Devoted father to Stephen (Joy), Gregg, Ann (Tim) Ripplinger, and Paul (Jillene). Cherished grandfather of five and great grandfather of ten. Dear brother to Tony and Leo. Preceded in death by parents, Simon and Agnes Hoffman, and sister Irene. Jim graduated from North Dakota State University in 1954. He was a civil engineer with the Iowa Highway Department, before working with IBM for the remainder of his career. He was a proud Army Reserve veteran. Jim was an active member at St. Theresa Parish for 50 years, participating in the church choir, and Boy Scouts. He was an avid wood carver and wood worker, and proud member of Knights of Columbus for several years. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, funeral services at this time will be held privately. A memorial mass will take place in April of 2022. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made Little City Boy Scout Troop, www.littlecity.org/donate/ or Little Sisters of the Poor, 80 W.
