James J. Wayne
James J. Wayne, 37 of Springfield, died at 1:16 am, Monday, November 21, 2022 at his home. He was born July 18, 1985 in Springfield, to Rachael Sacco and Steven Smith.
Survivors include his fiancé, Stephanie White and her son, Logan; mother, Rachael (Phil) Ellenburg of Springfield; father, Steven (Cathleen) Smith of Springfield; siblings, Alex (Ashley Gustin) Kluge of Belleville, Summer (James) DeRosa of Springfield, Zak (Ellen Beckwith) Wayne of Springfield and Elizabeth (Brad) Ferill-Stone; grandmother, Linda Sacco of Gulf Shores, AL; two aunts, Chris (Brett) Jenkins and Jamie Sacco and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Jeramy M. Wayne; grandpa James Sacco and great grandparents, Edith and Virgil Neal.
James retired from the US Army as a Military Technician. He loved riding his Harley and bowling as a league member at King Pin. He was a member of Sangamon County Rescue Squad and VFW 10302.
Visitation: 4 – 7 pm, Thursday, December 1, 2022 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.
Funeral Service: 11:30 am, Friday, December 2, 2022 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the VFW 10302 on Stockyard Road immediately following the service at the cemetery.
