James Anton “Jim” Isaacson—known to many as “Ike”—passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 21, 2025, in Anamosa, Iowa. He was born on February 21, 1948, in Lafayette, Indiana, to Jerrold and Mildred (Livingston) Isaacson.

Jim’s life was shaped by adventure and problem-solving. As a young man he drove an ambulance and later traveled the highways as a truck driver. His fascination with technology led him to purchase an early Altair computer, sparking a lifelong passion that grew into a 35-year career as an engineer with International Harvester and General Motors.

He married the love of his life, Sue (Jensen) Isaacson, and together they shared joy, laughter, and countless motorcycle trips—including rides to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and Sturgis. Jim was quick-witted, loved current events, and enjoyed simple comforts like steak-and-potatoes meals and building a fire on a winter’s night.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Reed, and Sue. Survivors include Marci (Eric), Christian (Jennifer), Aaron, and Joshua.

A celebration of Jim’s life will be held in March to coincide with his and Sue’s wedding anniversary. His family takes comfort in knowing they are together again, and he will be remembered with love as Jim to some, Ike to others, and unforgettable to all who knew him.
