Irma Alice Fisher

Irma Alice Fisher, 86, of Hendersonville, passed away Sunday, January 23, 2022, at the Elizabeth House.

She was the daughter of the late Hermie and Margaret Whitaker Fisher.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Bruce and Larry Fisher.

Irma worked many years at Holts Hosiery Mill, and as a cosmetologist before later retiring from Wilsonart.  Upon her retirement, she returned to working as a cosmetologist in her home.

Irma spent a great deal of time volunteering at her church, Fruitland Baptist Church, where she was a lifelong member, whether cooking meals or working in the church office.  She also enjoyed crocheting (Afghans in particular), playing piano, singing, birdwatching, and cooking. She loved to spend time and have a good laugh with her family, friends, and church family.  Her love of the Lord came above all else.

She leaves behind her daughters, Iona R. Shuler and husband, Chris, and Dolores Merqner; sons, Newton Reed and Joseph Heatherly and wife, Sandra; grandchildren, Chad and Brent Heatherly and Heather and Lindsey Melton; great-grandchildren, Alexis, Bradon, Taylor, Megan, Ellody and Barrick; and many special friends.

A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Monday, January 31, 2022, at Fruitland Baptist Church with the Reverend Mike Smith officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.  Interment will follow the service at Fruitland Cemetery.
