Irene Johanna Aherin

Irene Johanna Aherin, 97, of Springfield, passed away on Friday, March 5, 2021 at her home. She was born in Springfield on September 29, 1923 to Alexander and Constancia “Connie” (Czauskus) Tribicus, and they preceded her in death. She married Allan M. Aherin on May 22, 1954 and he preceded her in death November 28, 2000.

She is survived by a daughter, Sharon (Mark) Walters of Crestview, FL; three sons, Michael Aherin of Petersburg, Dennis (Susan) Aherin of Jacksonville, and Richard Aherin (Kristi Kern) of Springfield, five grandchildren: Nicole (Chris) Walden, Stephanie Walters, Christopher, Kendra and Cierra Aherin.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Allan, two sisters, Elizabeth Tribicus and Eleanor Miller, and brother-in-law Carl Miller.

She was a lifelong resident of Springfield and worked for the State of Illinois Department of ESDA retiring in 1983. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Church.

Gathering: 10 am – 12 pm, Thursday, March 11, 2021 at St. Joseph’s Church.

Funeral Mass: 12:00 pm, Thursday, March 11, 2021 at St. Joseph’s Church with Father Manuel Cuizon officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph’s Church.

CDC Protocol shall be followed.
