Ila Norwood McSpadden
- April 5, 2022
Ila Norwood McSpadden, 89, of Hendersonville, North Carolina made her journey to heaven on March 31, 2022. She was born on May 22, 1932 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. She is preceded in death by her husband of 37 years Merrill McSpadden. They moved to Hendersonville in 1984 from Checotah, Oklahoma.
While living in Muskogee, Oklahoma, Ila worked as a buyer for Acme Engineering and Manufacturing, the maker of green house fans. She later earned her real estate license and became very successful helping families find land and homes in Checotah.
Affectionately known as “Mimi”, Ila’s greatest joy was her family whom she served with countless meals around her table while supporting and celebrating them through all seasons of their lives. She loved poetry, cooking, her faith, spring time, anything purple, and sweet iced tea. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Hendersonville. Ila made it her mission to begin each day reading God’s word. She always sent birthday cards and notes of encouragement to those she loved. No matter where she went, she often received compliments on her beautiful silver hair.
She is survived by her loving son Chuck Lusk(Lynn) of Hendersonville; two grandsons, Chaz Lusk(Leti) of Nashville, Tn; and Chris Lusk(Sarah) also of Nashville, Tn. She was the Great grandmother to Saber, Emry, Amelia, and Emma. She is also survived by her sisters LaVada Myers, Sue Pemberton(Don), and a brother John Norwood (Colleene) all from Checotah. Aunt Ila had many nieces and nephews that had a special place in her heart.
There will be a private celebration of life with her family before being taken to her final resting place in her beloved Checotah, Oklahoma.
