Howard Franklin Shefton of Bedford Heights, OH, born November 9, 1939, transitioned on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at Huntington Woods Care and Rehabilitation Center in Westlake. He was born November 9, 1939 on a farm in Johnsonville, South Carolina to George and Minnie Lee Shefton. As a young man Howard left South Carolina seeking new opportunities making stops in New York and Detroit before finally settling in the Central neighborhood of Cleveland, OH where some of his family resided. He then briefly attended Cuyahoga Community College, before settling in the Hough neighborhood and beginning his work in politics and adventures in entrepreneurism. Howard started several businesses over the course of his life including a small grocery store, a shoe store and finally a barbeque restaurant. Additionally, he held jobs as a corrections officer, with the State of Ohio’s Liquor Board and spent 35 years working for Standard Parking as a parking attendant. That job allowed him to get to know many people across Cleveland. On December 25, 1979 he married Jacqueline Samuel, who already had a young son, Marcel. Several months later they welcomed their daughter, Khrystalynn Adele.
Howard is preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings. He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline; his son, Marcel (Ashley); his daughter, Khrystalynn of Bedford, OH; granddaughter, Summer Lynn of University Heights, OH; and a host of ten siblings, family, and friends.
