Helen Mae Traeger, 95, of Springfield, died on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at Springfield Memorial Hospital. She was born November 7, 1926 in Springfield, to Arloe K. and Ruby G. Petersen Parks. She married Raymond W. Traeger on July 5, 1952 and he preceded her in death on November 1, 2020.
Survivors include two daughters, Karen (Brad) Reside of Hendersonville, TN and Laurie Traeger of Phoenix, AZ; one son, Kevin (Barb) Traeger of Williamsville; five grandchildren, Alison (Ryan) Thompson, Andrea (Ryan) Haycraft, Eric (Susan Lester) Reside, Matthew (Amanda) Traeger and Kyle (Staci) Traeger; nine great grandchildren, Jake, Kherington and Lucas Thompson, Grayson and Parker Haycraft, Eliza and Audrey Reside and Maddie and Gracie Traeger and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband and siblings, Gladys Ryburn and Raymond and Richard Parks.
Helen was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. She was a homemaker for many years; worked for Pillsbury Mills, Midwest Nursing Home Consultants and retired from the Illinois Department of Revenue where she worked in many positions for several years.
Helen loved to travel with Raymond and enjoyed spending time with her family, who were very dear to her.
Visitation: 10-11 am, Thursday, January 13, 2022 at St. John’s Lutheran Church.
Funeral Service: 11:15 am, Thursday, January 13, 2022 at St. John’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Greg Busboom and Pastor Pam Mitcham officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church.
