Headdy Dochterman (Im Sung Boon) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away peacefully at home on Aug. 15, 2022. A visitation will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 21, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids. A private graveside funeral will be held on Tuesday August 23, at Linwood Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.

Headdy was born on Feb. 18, 1938, in Seoul, South Korea. She was united in marriage to Ed Dochterman on July 27, 1962, in Seoul, where he was stationed in the U.S. Army. She came to the United States in 1964 via San Francisco, where she saw the most beautiful bridge. Headdy was very proud to become a U.S. citizen in 1971. Ed and Headdy bought a house in North Liberty, where they lived and had their daughters. In 1980 the family moved to Cedar Rapids. She had many friends over the years and was a kind and giving person. Headdy loved her flowers and gardening, the outdoors, playing bingo, bus trips to casinos, watching Jeopardy, sushi, Starbucks and her many pets over the years. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and her daughters.

She is survived by daughters, Juli Schoff and Angie Houtakker of Cedar Rapids, six grandchildren, Holly Schoff (Jed Lovell), Cameron Schoff, Chloe McCabe, Strad Houtakker, Reese Houtakker (Hannah Bosco) of West Des Moines and Hannah Houtakker (Alex Hess) of Cedar Rapids; a brother-in-law, Ken Sellers of Oklahoma; sisters-in-law, Mary Dochterman of Cedar Rapids and Mary (Bob) Sharp of Neola, Iowa; her cat Chopstick; and many nieces and nephews here in the U.S. and in Korea.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Holly; sister, Kyong Cha; and dog Midge.

A special thanks to neighbors Kenny and Anthony as well as her good friend Donna who looked out for her.

She will be greatly missed. Memorial donations may be directed to U.S. Bank in Cedar Rapids.
