Harold “Buzz” Fleming, 74, of Martelle, died Thursday, March 14, 2024, at the Veterans Health Center in Iowa City.

The family will greet friends from 1 to 4 pm Saturday, March 23, 2024, at the Goettsch Funeral Home in Anamosa. Military Honors will be accorded by the United States Army and the Anamosa Veterans Honor Guard at the conclusion of visitation. Harold Eugene Fleming was born in Olin, IA on December 5, 1949, the son of Ivan and Ruth (Bider) Fleming. He attended school in Olin and helped his parents on the family farm. He served his country in the United States Army, being stationed in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. On October 16, 1976, he was united in marriage to Deborah Knutsen at the Anamosa Baptist Church. The couple made their home in Martelle. He worked as a semi driver for the ADM Corporation and had also worked as a dispatcher and in construction.

Buzz, having grown up on the farm, had a special fondness for tractors. Over the years he spent countless hours restoring a total of 55 farm tractors and he was in the process of completing his 56th. He and Deb loved spending time together and with their family.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Deb, his siblings Dorothy Brauer, Richard (Marcella) Fleming, and William (Joann) Fleming, many nieces and nephews, his good friends Mike Gould and Chuck Peck, his two dogs Flecther Fleming and Joey, and his three cats Suzie, Squirrelly Girl, and Big Bud.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Margaret (Stanley) Hedrickson, Irene (Dean) Betzer, Shirley (Dean) Zumbrunnen, a brother Dean Flemming, and a brother-in-law Harold Brauer.
