Guenter Huhndorf, 93, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2023, surrounded by his family. A private family graveside service will be held at Oak Shade Cemetery in Marion.

Guenter was born on Jan. 5, 1930, in Leipzig, Germany, the son of Erich and Elsa Huhndorf. On March 17, 1954, he was united in marriage to Gisela Huhndorf. A year later, Guenter and Gisela immigrated to the United States from Germany. They were blessed with three children, Yvonne, Eric, and Curt. As a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Guenter loved spending time with his family. He passed down his love for the great outdoors to his children. He spent many years deer hunting, trout fishing, Alaska salmon fishing, and Lake Erie walleye fishing. He thoroughly enjoyed the many memorable family fishing vacations up north. His sense of humor and compassion will be greatly missed.

Guenter is survived by his three children, Yvonne Berg of Cedar Rapids, Eric (Tracey) Huhndorf of Moravia, Iowa, and Curt (Barbara) Huhndorf of Marion; four grandchildren, Heath (Jen) Aldershof, Brock (Anna) Aldershof, Jared (Lilllie) Huhndorf and Kelsi Huhndorf; and five great-grandchildren, Jessica, Devyn, Sutton, and Palmer Aldershof and Josie Huhndorf.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Gisela, who passed in 2020.
