Gottfried Leroy “Lee” Wolfer, age 87 of Yorkville, IL passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday, December 3, 2021. He was born on June 23, 1934 in Allentown, PA to the son of Carl and Frances L (Koons) Wolfer.

Lee was a proud Veteran of the United States Army Reserve. He was a member of Cross Lutheran Church in Yorkville, IL.  Lee was employed as a Mechanical Engineer for 27 years by Mobil Oil Refinery in Joliet, IL. Lee was united in marriage to Karen (Morris) Corneglio on December 14, 1985 and spent 35 years together. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Lee is survived by his wife, Karen Wolfer of Yorkville, IL; his daughters, Heather (Thomas) Kenney of Gurnee, IL and Lori (David) Heitman of Shorewood, IL; his grandchildren, Daniel Kenney, Patrick (Courtney) Kenney and Thomas Kenney; Andrew (Tiffany) Heitman, Scott (Jessica) Heitman, Eric Heitman, and step -daughter, Gina (Jon) Brockhoff, and grandchildren Kayla Brockhoff and Erika Brockhoff; his siblings, Frances (Elmer) Day, Carl (Maggie) Wolfer and Ann Berry; and his former wife and mother of his children, Jeanette (Ron) Stadt.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Frances (Lucy) Wolfer; his daughter Cindy Wolfer; his grandson, Mark Kenney; and brother-in-law, Dick Berry.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, December 13, 2021 at the Nelson Funeral Home, 1617 North Bridge Street, Yorkville, IL with Pastor Eric Gauss officiating. Interment will follow in the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL.

Family and friends may visit from 2:00 until 5:00 PM Sunday, December 12, 2021 at the Funeral Home in Yorkville, IL.
