Gloria M. Crawford
Gloria M. Crawford, 87, of St. Petersburg, Florida, passed away early Thursday morning, August 26, 2021, at her home.
Born December 5, 1933, in Mansfield, Ohio, she was one of ten children of the late William T. Cory and Mary L. (Portman) Cory-Au, and lived in Mansfield most of her life. Gloria was married to Robert L. Crawford until his passing in 1999. She worked in the Mansfield City Schools cafeteria and for 10 years at Dominion Electric. For many years, she bowled on several area leagues. Gloria was a member of the Women of the Moose. She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church but was a long-time member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church until it closed. She was devoted to her church and family. Gloria enjoyed her entire family and time spent with them but she especially enjoyed the company of her sisters.
Giving and kind hearted, Gloria was willing to help anyone in need. She had a servant’s heart and her family and friends will remember her generosity for all time. She found pleasure in walking at the beach and Kingwood Center, enjoying the beauty and solitude.
Gloria is survived by two children, Patricia (Robert) Barkhurst of St. Petersburg, FL, and James (Diana) Crawford of Ontario; ten grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; a sister, Vicky Kowns of Enon, OH; a brother, Raymond (Melinda) Au of Mount Vernon, OH; and many nieces, nephews and very dear relatives. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Crawford on March 5, 1999; three sisters, Virginia Chaffin, Kathrien Williams and Evelyn Williams; and four brothers, William J. Cory, Donald Au, Harold Au, and Paul R. Au.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
