Gloria Jeanne Nika Springfield, IL – Gloria Jeanne Nika, 80, passed away on Thursday, March 11, 2021 at her home in the presence of her loving husband and children. Gloria was born on November 3, 1940 in Springfield to Robert O. Lowder and Vivian DeCroix. She met her high school sweetheart and later husband, Robert (Bob) A. Nika while attending Lanphier High School and they later married on August 31, 1958.

She is survived by her husband, Robert; two daughters, Laurie (Kevin) Bramblett of Springfield, Jill Nika of Springfield; two sons, Robert (Lorene) of Rochester and Robin “Moose” (Jennifer) Nika of Springfield; eleven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; a sister, Janice K. (deceased Bill) Kelty of Springfield; a brother Jaigh E. Lowder (Jill Manning) of Petersburg, IL.

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Vivian, and her brother, Robert P. Lowder.

Gloria was a lifelong resident of Springfield, Illinois and worked many years for her father at Pioneer Building Maintenance. She was a member of Bethany Evangelical Church and a firm believer in our Lord Jesus Christ.

She and her husband Bob worked as a team to provide a loving and secure life for their family filled with laughter, smiles and constant support throughout the years. Gloria enjoyed cooking, collecting porcelain dolls, Seraphim Angels and sitting on her shaded porch looking at her husband’s beautiful flowers while listening to the porch wind chimes ring in the breeze. She greatly enjoyed her visits and outings with sister Janie every week. Gloria was often referred to as “My Angel” by her husband Bob and having her for a lifetime of love was his greatest privilege and honor.

Springfield Staab Funeral Home will be entrusted for the visitation held from 10-11:30 a.m. and the funeral at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, March 15, 2021. Her grandson, Pastor Tommy Nika will officiate. Burial will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Springfield.
