Gina Maree Carter Gifford, 61, of Marion, passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2024.

She passed away peacefully from a long-time illness at the Mercy Hospice house surrounded by her loved ones.

Gina M. Carter was born on January 3, 1963 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Elmer L. Carter and Carollyn A Hasley Carter. She was the youngest out of three children, with two older brothers, Larre M.(Dawn) Carter and Eric S.(Wendy) Carter. She has one niece, Erin Carter Dohlman, and two nephews, Chad and Jason Carter.

She has three children, one son, Michael S (Carrie) Enos, and two daughters, Michelle R (Mike) Gifford and Alleeza M Wegmuller (Travis) Sills. She has five granddaughters, Maria, Morgan, Mya Enos and Jazmyne McKnight and Haisley Sills. She has four grandsons, Christian Enos, Victorious Mattox, Keaton Gunther and Landon Sills.

She enjoyed being needed as a mother and grandmother, being able to teach her kids and grandchildren cooking, baking, crafts and crocheting. She enjoyed learning how to be independent in fixing everything on her own. Before her illness she enjoyed the outside, gardening, fishing, hiking. She loved all of the animals she had in her life. Horses, dogs, cats, chickens, goats. Her dog Presley was her emotional support dog that she treated like a child.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Eric.

She will be forever missed by her family and friends. As per Gina’s request there will be no funeral. There is a celebration of life being held on March 2 from 1 to 4 pm at EL VIE’JO Mexican Restaurant. Contact family for more information.
