Geraldine Edney Staton

Geraldine Edney Staton, 88, of Hendersonville, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 12, 2022, at her home.
A native and lifelong resident of Hendersonville, she was the daughter of the late Falium Newton Edney and Glannie McCrain Edney. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie A. Staton, Sr. who died in 1995; three sisters, Virginia Drucilla, Genell, and Mary Francis; and four brothers, Auda, Odell, Winford, and Clifford.
Geraldine was a 1953 graduate of Flat Rock High School; and was a longtime member of Fair Haven Baptist Church. She was a loving wife and devoted mother. Her faith and charity were beyond measure.
She is survived by three daughters, Sharon S. Epperson of Hendersonville, Phyllis S. Perkins and her husband Thad of Mills River, and Tamara S. Thompson and her husband Jeff of Hendersonville; a son, Jimmie A. Staton, II of Flat Rock; two grandchildren, Sallie Suzanne and Caleigh Caroline; and numerous nieces and nephews to whom she loved.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 18, 2022, at the Smythe Place “Many Pines” 589 Highland Lake Drive, East Flat Rock, NC. The burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery in the Staton Family Mausoleum.
Memorials may be made to: The Todd Thompson Memorial Scholarship Fund at Blue Ridge Community College (endowed by her granddaughter, Suzanne Thompson).
We are all visitors here to this time and this place. We are just passing through. Our purpose here is to observe, to learn, to grow, to love, and then we return home.
