Gerald “Gary” Schaapveld, 79, of Homestead, died Oct. 18, 2022, at the University of Iowa Hospital. Visitation will be held on Friday, Oct. 21, 2022, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Snyder and Hollenbaugh Funeral and Cremation Services of Lone Tree. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2022, at the funeral home. A private burial will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Nichols at a later date. Survivors include his wife, Helen Schaapveld; son, Eric Schaapveld; four grandchildren; brothers, Warren (Ann) Schaapveld and Lonny (Nancy) Schaapveld; and sisters-in-law, Karen and Joyce Schaapveld.
