Georgina F. Wilkin

Georgina F. Wilkin, 89, of Springfield, died at 1:55 am, Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at St. John’s Hospital. She was born July 24, 1932, in Springfield, the daughter of Anthony and Cletis Westfall Bruckner. She married James Wilkin on December 29, 1951 and he preceded her in death on May 4, 2017.

Survivors include two daughters, Leigh Ann (Dan) Szabados of Springfield and Mary (Terry) Barrow of Chatham; two sons, Mike Wilkin of Springfield and Kevin (Adele) Wilkin of Pawnee; five grandchildren, Jessica Barrow, Katie (Ivar) Blessing, Drew Szabados, Lauren Szabados, and Paige Szabados; four great-grandchildren, Tessa, Spencer, Avery, and Parker; sister, Marie Moffett of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers, Les, Harold and Tony Bruckner; and two sisters, Margie Olson and Gerry Tipps.

Georgina was a member of St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church. She was a homemaker and worked for St. John’s Hospital, where she was a Samaritan. She also worked for Franklin Life Insurance Company, Heartland Credit Union and for Dr. Milhon, DDS. Georgina enjoyed quilting and traveling. She loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandkids.

Visitation: 3 – 6 pm, Sunday, March 27, 2022 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield. A Vigil Prayer Service will be held at 4 pm.

Funeral Mass: 9:30 am, Monday, March 28, 2022 at St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church with Reverend Kevin Mann officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
