Georgia Ann “Georgie” Johns

Georgia Ann “Georgie” Johns, age 67, of New Philadelphia, died peacefully, early Wednesday, March 24, 2021, while in the care of Community Hospice House at New Philadelphia following a courageous one-year battle with cancer.

Born in Dennison, Ohio on December 2, 1953, she was a daughter of the late Jack and Blanche Galbraith Morris.

Georgie was retired from Union Hospital at Dover where she was employed as a Case Manager. She was a member of Sharon Moravian church and served on the Christian Education Committee. She was a past Sunday School Teacher at the Uhrichsville United Methodist Church and a member of the New Philadelphia Elks Lodge BPOE 510. Georgie was known for her love of cooking and being the “Bestest of Hostesses”. She loved spending time hosting and cooking for friends and family at her Tappan Lake home and most recently entertaining guests at her condo in Marco Island, Florida.

She is survived by her husband, Alan Johns, whom she married May 5, 1973; their daughter, Shanda (Jason) Mushrush of New Philadelphia; her grandchildren, Joseph and Cambri Mushrush; two sisters, Jennifer (John) Thomas of Florida and Dawn Morris Romie of Columbus and a brother, Todd Morris of Leesville as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service celebrating Georgie’s life will be led by Pastor Lloyd Gooden on Saturday, April 10, 2021, at 11 AM in the chapel of the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. The family will receive guests one hour prior to the service. Burial will immediately follow in the East Avenue Cemetery at New Philadelphia.

The six-foot rule will be honored and all guests are required to wear a mask to enter the funeral home. For the safety of everyone, and to allow other guests to pay their respects, we politely ask that visitors not staying for the service do not linger in the funeral home and promptly exit the building after greeting the family.

Instead of flowers, memorial contributions in Georgie’s name may be directed to Sharon Moravian Church, 4776 Moravian Church Rd SE, New Philadelphia, OH 44663 or to Community Hospice, 716 Commercial Avenue SW, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.
