George Gene Goodwin, 63, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa passed away Saturday, August 9, 2025, at Mercy Medical Center. A funeral service will be held at a later date.
George was born April 10, 1962, to George and Rosella (Williams) Goodwin. He served in the Iowa National Guard. George married Lori Abben on October 30, 1999. He gave many years of service to BWC Excavating. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
He enjoyed fishing, watching westerns and WWE Wrestling, and playing Pokémon Go. He loved spending time with his family, especially his buddy Sapphire.
George is survived by his loving wife, Lori AbbenGoodwin; children, Josie Meineke, Jenny Abben, Jessica (Matt) McIntosh, Jamaica Abben (Cody), Jordan Abben, George (Bert) Goodwin, Jason, Justin, Jaxon, and Joey Goodwin; sixteen grandchildren; and six siblings.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two siblings, two great granddaughters, and his father-in-law.
