Gary R. Riddell

Gary R. Riddell, 76, of Chatham, passed away on Monday, May 2, 2022 at his home. He was born on July 15, 1945, in Springfield, the son of Charles Louis and Audrey Kathleen (Wilcoxson) Riddell. He married Karen S. Dame on December 18, 1981 and she survives.

Also surviving are his two children, Susan (Chris) Heaton of Chatham and Michael Reavis of Kansas; six grandchildren, Gary (Bobbie Jean) Reavis, Christopher (Jorden) Heaton, Michael (Kansas) Reavis, Billy Reavis, Carlie Heaton, and Jeffrey Reavis; ten great-grandchildren, Beckman, Miner, Jaxon, Colton, Stevie Jo, Christina, Hope, Leland, Kayleigh, and Cade; nephew, Carl Louis Riddell of Springfield; and several cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Edward L. Riddell; son, Larry Reavis; and great-grandson, Zander Reavis.

Gary was a United States Navy veteran, serving on the USS Princeton during the Vietnam War. He was the owner and operator of The Sharp Shop in Chatham and had previously worked for Contech Construction.

Gary was a member of Chatham United Methodist Church and the Chatham American Legion Post 759. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening, his yearly visits to Branson, MO, and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.

The family of Gary would like to give their sincere and special thanks to everyone at Kindred Hospice for the care that was given to Gary and his family.

Visitation: 10 am – 12 pm, Saturday, May 7, 2022 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.

Funeral Service: 12 pm, Saturday, May 7, 2022 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield, with Pastor Jay Brooks officiating. Burial will follow at Chatham Memorial Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.
