Garry D. Lester, 69, of Mansfield, Ohio passed away on Sunday, May 30, 2021 at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital. He was born in West Virginia on July 8, 1951 to Posey and Jennie (Hall) Lester.
Garry retired after many years working for the City of Mansfield. He was loving, caring and had a big heart, always willing to do anything for anyone. He had many friends, but two special friends he held close to his heart, Kevin Dillon and Tony Benson. Garry enjoyed spending time with family, especially attending car shows with his wife, Rebecca and friend, Kevin and going to the dirt track races to watch his son, Benny race. Garry loved his old truck and his dogs. He married the love of his life, Rebecca Daugherty, on November 1, 1997.
Garry is survived by his wife, Rebecca; seven children, Lisa (Mike) Price, Jason (Adrienne) Lester, Michael Lester, Steven Lester, Kristin (Brian) McPeek, Chelsy Svejkovsky and Alyssa (Michelle) Hillberry; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two brothers, Larry (Virginia) Lester and Earl Lester; sister-in-law, Carol Lester; numerous nieces and nephews; and mother, Jennie Lester.
He was preceded in death by his father, Posey Lester; son, Benny Lester; and brother, Herman Lester.
The family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 3, 2021 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield, OH 44902. A service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, June 4, 2021 beginning at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Leroy Lester officiating. He will be laid to rest in Mansfield Cemetery.
