Garnet Irene Harbaugh, 95, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester. She was born on March 7, 1929, in Monticello, the daughter of Frank and Irene (Egger) Boss. Garnet was raised in the Manchester area and graduated from Manchester High School in 1946. She attended Iowa Teacher College for one year.
On August 20, 1947, Garnet was united in marriage to Warren G. Harbaugh at First Presbyterian Church in Manchester. To this union four children were born. She worked part-time for Dr. Burt Bushnell and at Youngblut Jewelry and Tyler’s Jewelry and Gifts for several years. Garnet and Warren raised their family and made wonderful memories on their farm outside of Manchester before moving to town in 1991. They enjoyed wintering in St. Petersburg, Florida for 30 years. They looked forward to the time spent with their Florida friends. Garnet moved to The Meadows in 2018.
Garnet was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church where she served as a trustee, session member and taught Sunday school. She was a past member of “TTT” Society. She enjoyed her time spent with the Red Hat Ladies and her Aerobic Group. Garnet found joy in golfing, bridge, traveling, her oil painting, and hosting special family gatherings. Above all she cherished the time spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her three children, Debora (Steven) Emerson of Corpus Christi, Texas, Kathy (Dan) Swift, and Rick (Sheryl) Harbaugh, both of Manchester, Iowa; six grandchildren, Matthew (Carley) Emerson of Roanoke, Virginia, Thomas (Jennifer) Emerson of San Antonio, Texas, Bob (Sonya) Swift of Bettendorf, Iowa, Ted (Maggie) Swift of Tiffin, Iowa, Claire (Dave Corrigan) Swift of Cleveland, Ohio, and Megan (Nic Houselog) Harbaugh of Dyersville, Iowa; and nine great-grandchildren, Knox and Henry Emerson, Ada and Everett Emerson, Owen, James, Samantha, and Wesley Swift, and Jay Swift.
Garnet was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Warren in 2016; her son, Gary in 2021; and her brother, Dorrence “Bill” (Velda) Boss.
Memorial donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church in Manchester, Iowa and Regional Medical Center in Manchester, Iowa.

Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 27, 2025, at First Presbyterian Church in Manchester, Iowa with Reverend Nathan Lamb officiating.
Visitation: 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Manchester, Iowa, friends may also call from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 27, 2025, at First Presbyterian Church in Manchester, Iowa.
