Furman Glenn Gossett

Mr. Furman Glenn Gossett, age 88, of Etowah, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 28, 2021, at Four Seasons Elizabeth House in Flat Rock, North Carolina. Born in Greenville, South Carolina on April 09, 1933, Furman was the son of the late Jesse and Margaret Day Gossett.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Glenda Gossett, who passed away on April 07, 2016; one son, Terry Gossett; and seven siblings, Sharon Gossett, Faye Gossett, Bill Gossett, Edward Gossett, Johnny Gossett, Elizabeth Gossett Hamilton and Gene Gossett.

A proud veteran of the United States Navy, having served during the Korean War, Furman had achieved the rank of Chief Warrant Officer. Although he had a quiet demeanor and laid back, Furman was known to be a leader.

He is survived by one son, Michael Glenn Gossett; one grandson, Jason Glenn Gossett; two sisters, Grace McKinna (Jim-deceased) and Margaret Ann Hill (Jack); one brother, Bob Gossett (Judy); and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private graveside service will be held at Oak Forest Cemetery in Etowah.
