Fredrick Fantine

Fredrick T. Fantine, 72, of Dover, passed away on Monday, November 7, 2022 under the care of New Dawn Nursing Home and Community Hospice following a period of declining health.
Born in Dover on September 22, 1950, Fred was the son of the late Daniel E. and Ruth I. (Price) Fantine of Midvale.
He was a 1968 graduate of Indian Valley North High School and enjoyed playing baseball and basketball during his high school years.
Fred was a member of the U.S. Army and was stationed in Long Binh during the Viet Nam War. He was a life member of the New Philadelphia VFW. He was also a retired employee of Greer Steel. Fred enjoyed being a member of the Bear Schwartz Racing Crew at the Midvale Speedway. He was a collector of Fenton glassware and had a large collection at one time. He was also one of the polenta stirrers at St. Paul’s in Midvale. And, of course, Fred was a Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
He will be sadly missed by his sister and brother-in-law, Fran and Don Wemple of New Philadelphia; his niece, Kim (Tim) Martin of Strasburg; his great-niece, Olivia Martin of Strasburg; his great-nephew, Nick Martin of Strasburg; and aunt, Mary Ourant; and cousins.
Father Jeff Coning will officiate a memorial service at Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Saturday, November 12, 2022 beginning at 2 p.m. with visitation one hour prior in the funeral home chapel. Inurnment will immediately follow in Calvary Cemetery at New Philadelphia.
Fred’s family wishes to express a special thanks to the staffs at New Dawn and Community Hospice for the care extended by them.
