Frank “Bill” Dragoo

Frank “Bill” Dragoo, 84 of Petersburg, died at 2:10 pm, on Monday, September 20, 2021, at Memorial Medical Center. He was born November 4, 1936, in Springfield, the son of Lyman and Leela Dragoo. He married Sandra Roth on June 10, 1995.

He is survived by his wife, Sandy Dragoo of Petersburg; one daughter: Becky (Tom Sonneborn) Dragoo of Springfield; one step daughter: Jayne Roth of Bella Vista, AR; two sons: Darryl (Amy Nelson) Dragoo of Rochester and Randy (Annie) Dragoo of CA; three step sons: Terry (Rachael) Roth of Chatham, IL, Nick (Toni) Roth of Waynesville, MO and Tim (Peggy) Roth of Springfield; seventeen grandchildren; several great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters: Mary Hewitt and Lolly Wagner and one brother: Sam Dragoo.

Bill was a U.S. Army and Marine Corps Veteran. He retired from the State Police having worked as Executive Security for four Illinois Governors. He entered the field of real estate upon retirement in the 1980’s.

Bill loved to travel, drive his RV, hunting, stock car races, NASCAR, trap shooting, and golfing. He especially loved to be around people and most of all his family. He was a Shriner and Mason (Chatham Lodge #0523).

Visitation: 4-7 pm, Thursday, September 30, 2021 at Staab Funeral Home- Springfield.

Funeral Service: 11:30 am, Friday, October 1, 2021 at Staab Funeral Home- Springfield, with Eric Hanson officiating. Burial follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Illinois State Police Gold Star Families or the Shriners Hospital for Children.
