Frances L. Tipps

Frances L. Tipps, 100, of Springfield, passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia, IL. She was born on September 5, 1921, in Springfield, the daughter of Wenzel and Frances (Kaska) Fomera. She married Floyd Tipps on July 1, 1944 and he preceded her in death on March 21, 2002.

She is also preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Skyler Henson; and two sisters, Erma Waddell and Mary Bachman.

Survivors include her daughter, Cherie Henson of Mulberry Grove; three grandchildren, Chamarie (David) Staggs of Keyesport, Christina Henson of Coffeen and Shane Henson of Brownstown; eight grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Frances was a graduate of Springfield High School. She was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Frances worked at Allis Chalmer’s during World War II. She also worked for Weight Watchers for 30 years and retired from SIU Medical School after 21 years of service.

Frances was passionate when she painted with watercolors and acrylics and enjoyed giving them to her family and friends.

Visitation: 12:30 – 1 pm, Monday, February 7, 2022 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.

Funeral Service: 1 pm, Monday, February 7, 2022 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield, with Reverend Paul Hemenway officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church.
